New Year, New Blog

It's been awhile since I wrote a blog post, but I am back! Since I last wrote on here, I realized that I do love having a blog, but I wish I could speak more broadly and personally on it. So that is why I've rebranded my blog from a strictly female in STEM oriented one to a personal one. Being a feminist and more specifically, a STEM-inist, is still a huge part of who I am and what I stand for. But there's also a lot more that I want to put out there about myself. A few months ago, I wrote my post "7 months down" about my recovery process, and it was one of the best things I did for myself. Writing that really started off as a reminder to myself. I forget sometimes that recovery is a lifetime commitment and a really (REALLY) hard one. Writing that blog, I got to remind myself that I've come really far and I should be able to share that with pride. In the past few weeks, I've been doing a lot more writing than usual. And I have remembered how wonderful it is. I'm not the best at it, but you don't have to a Pulitzer Prize winner to find it remarkably therapeutic. I usually start writing when I'm really frustrated or I have way too many thoughts to process at once. It's almost like once I can put things into writing, I can remove them from my mind and just keep the important points in my memory. It's like cleaning out my brain and making sense of all the confusing thoughts I have. If you find me interesting enough to read my posts, I am extremely grateful. I intend to cover a lot of things including my college experiences, my relationships with friends and family and others, more on my recovery and dealing with my personal struggles, and of course, lots about growing as a female in STEM. This will be like my public diary, and I look forward to sharing with all of you!
